Organizers have called off the sold-out charity environmental show after security fears. The Live Earth concerts are the brainchild of former US president Al Gore and partner Kevin Wall. They have taken place around the world, including gigs in London, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Sydney. This concert was designed to highlight environmental concerns as well as India’s Light a Billion Lives solar energy programme.

Gunmen opened fire at hotels, a railway station and other sites across the city, killing more than 170 people this past week. Although the authorities have now brought the situation under control, many of the stars scheduled to perform at the Andheri Sports Complex on December 7th such as: Bon Jovi, Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan (Bollywood stars), Will.I.Am, and Roger Waters pulled out.

Organizers of Live Earth India said in a statement that they were “shocked and saddened” by the attacks:

“We always felt very welcomed and safe as we spent more time on the ground in Mumbai to finalise plans.”

British artist Amar Dhanjan, who also had been scheduled to perform agreed with the decision to cancel. She told BBC 6 Music:

“It’s just not important compared to what’s happening there right now,” she told BBC 6 Music.

Madonna’s marriage to filmmaker Guy Ritchie is over. Reports are circulating that the couple did not have a pre-nup but because they live primarily in London, the divorce is expected to move through the courts there. It’s expected that the pair will come to a multimillion-dollar settlement.

The split comes after the two of them tried to save their crumbling marriage with an intensive kabbalah course in Manhattan.

A joint statement given to the AP:

“Madonna and Guy Ritchie have agreed to divorce after seven-and-a-half years of marriage. They have both requested that the media maintain respect for their family at this difficult time.”

This past summer there were months of speculation over Madonna’s close friendship with Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez, whose estranged wife, Cynthia, was quoted saying that Madonna had “brainwashed” her hubby. Cynthia told a friend that she believed that her husband A-Rod and Madonna had an “affair of the heart.”

Madonna’s husband Ritchie was a no-show just two days ago at the New York premiere of a comedy she directed, “Filth and Wisdom.”

Janet Jackson has canceled her fourth show in Greensboro Carolina in less than a week due to her still being ill.

A statement from Miss Jackson said she arrived in Greensboro, N.C., planning to perform there today, but a local doctor advised her not to perform after it became “evident” she was not fully recovered.

Her reps will only say she became “suddenly ill” and was hospitalized Monday night in Montreal shortly after she arrived there for a show. She also canceled concerts in Boston and Philadelphia on Wednesday and Thursday.

Jackson’s publicist has so far not elaborated or disclosed what her illness is, only saying she was “recuperating.”

Shame. Hope she gets well soon. She is on her first North American tour in seven years.

The Jonas Brothers were all dressed up and looking fine at Disney’s Concert of Hope benefiting the City of Hope at the Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday in Universal City, Calif.

In one interview I remember one of them say that he’d only date a fan if she really loved him… and now they say: actually, we have dated fans. Why don’t they talk about schooling/education? They all seem to be way too young to be thinking of marriage or are they thinking of trading in their purity rings for wedding bands?

CBS will be airing a two hour special of the event on Tuesday evening. Proceeds will benefit Stand Up To Cancer, a program founded by the Entertainment Industry Foundation to raise money for cancer research.

Stand Up To Cancer held a live telethon that aired simultaneously on three networks: ABC, NBC and CBS on Friday night.

Fashion Rocks aired a live feed of a special performance by some of music industry’s famous divas such as: Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Natasha Bedingfield, Fergie, Rihanna and Miley — who all got together on stage to sing their new charity song, “Just Stand Up.” Fellow Oscar winners Hilary Swank and Charlize introduced this fantastic collaboration of talent.

Beyonce who is filming a movie on Etta James kept the wig on that she’s been wearing for her role… just in case any of you were wondering what that bad newz is on her head!

The concert organizers that got stood up by Amy Winehouse are now threatening legal action because she was a no show Friday night and they (the organizers) say they were only notified at 8 PM that night that wino had taken ill in England and was unable to make the trip to a city outside Paris for the festival.

What is with them? They hired her actually expecting her to show up ready, willing, and able to perform? Why are people still hiring her for shows? She has talent obviously, but she is also very ill. My thoughts are that no one should book her till she’s proven that she’s actually serious about getting help and staying sober. One day at a time.

In the original, recorded in 1969, Robert Plant sings, “I’m gonna give you every inch of my love.” But in the version that was sung, Lewis, 23, changed the words to “every bit” of my love. The organizers requested that the band drop the third verse, (they agreed) since it includes similar sexual innuendos, as well as time-wise they needed the song to fit in to the eight-minute performance.

It seems as if they have changed their minds. Avril is NOT TOO SEXY For them!

Since canceling Avril Lavigne’s August 29 concert saying she was “too sexy” — officials in Kuala Lumpur have now reversed their decision. The ministry’s secretary-general, Muzahet Masruri, said that the authorities talked things over with concert organizers and decided that Lavigne “can do the show” next week, even though the government would still have preferred a different date.

Muzahet declined to give a reason for the reversal, but said organizers told the government that they had already sold thousands of tickets and that the cancellation could hurt tourism.

The Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Mohd Shafie Apdal told the Malaysian National News they will “monitor the concert to ensure that the performances do not clash with the Malaysian culture and values.”

She wouldn’t dare spit on people over there… or would she?

A party official said this about Avril’s show:

“It is considered too sexy for us…it’s not good for viewers in Malaysia. We don’t want our people, our teenagers, influenced by their performance. We want clean artists, artists that are good role models.”

The Ministry will discuss it in a meeting with concert organizers who feel that they can all come to an agreement. Avril isn’t the first female act who had to tone down their show in order to perform there, the PCD and Gwen Stefani played Malaysia and had to do so.

Avril better read up on how to be a good role model because if she decides to spit on anyone over there she’d cause some major trauma.
